“Even a subtle change to your smile can boost your confidence and make a dramatic difference to the way you look and feel” – Dr Nicholas Malamas

Tooth coloured fillings

Simply changing your old discoloured fillings to a perfectly matched tooth coloured restoration can greatly improve the appearance of  your smile.

Ceramic crowns

Crowns are used to strengthen and restore a tooth to its full functionality and appearance. A tooth crown, also referred to as a cap, is custom made to fit over your entire tooth after the dentist has prepared it. Crowns essentially protect a tooth and hold it together.

Crowns serve many functions:

  • Support a tooth when there is no longer sufficient tooth structure left to place a filling.
  • Repair a tooth that has fractured or broken or in cases where part of a tooth is missing.
  • Protect and improve the aesthetics of root canal treated teeth.
  • Used in conjunction with implants to replace a lost tooth.

At Clifton Hill Dental we use ceramic crowns, which transmit light better and eliminate a grey look.

Porcelain veneers

Porcelain veneers are a beautiful way to correct stained, chipped, uneven or crooked teeth. The can also fill large gaps between teeth. By placing glass-like ceramic porcelain on the surface of teeth, we can provide patients with bright, straight and natural looking smiles. Dental flaws that have been a source of embarrassment for years can be treated with porcelain veneers in as little as two appointments.

Dental bridges

A dental bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth. A false tooth, known as a pontic, is fused between two porcelain crowns to fill in the area left by a missing tooth. The two crowns that hold it in place are attached onto your teeth on each side of the missing tooth. This is a fixed bridge.

The advantage of a bridge over implants is that no surgery is generally required, it is fixed onto the teeth on either side.

It is important to remember that losing a permanent tooth or teeth can cause serious problems to neighbouring teeth. The remaining teeth are forced to take on a higher load during chewing and function and as a result may begin to shift.

The opposing teeth above or below the lost tooth can also move up or down out of the socket often causing an acceleration in gum disease.

If missing teeth are not replaced, more teeth may eventually be lost due to changed and improper forces exerted during chewing.

Crown lengthening

Do you show too much gum when you smile? Clifton Hill Dental provides a combination of cosmetic treatments for patients who would prefer less of a gummy smile. Crown lengthening is one way to establish a more natural looking smile. In combination with ceramic veneers and crowns, we can create a beautiful smile makeover. Since every patient is different, it is important to come in for a consultation to determine the right treatment plan.

Full mouth rehabilitation

Are your teeth broken, worn or unsightly? Are they preventing you from smiling and enjoying the confidence you deserve? A combination of cosmetic dentistry techniques, such as veneers, crowns, implants and tooth coloured fillings very often restores a smile and healthy function.
